Thoughts on Sunday's game

we will win 2 nil we have been cruising for weeks. They were flagging for the last half an hour the other day. We could of changed gear at any time. Cant believe the lack of confidence on here tbh

Essentially we’ve got 2 cup games (hopefully 3) and although league form can be measured as a yard stick before they kick off I’m of the opinion it’s basically meaningless.

Both teams kind of came over as being quite equal last Monday in terms of power but Boro certainly have all the tools for controlling the game and possibly winning both legs.

My only concern with Boro is options up front as Muniz hasn’t figured and both Forss and Ramsey seem likely to miss out on the two legs. I’m just hoping that McGree can up his output to where he was mid season.

Maybe we get Crooksie to put in a blinder but when all is said and done much of our chances rest upon Chuba and the defence to have great games.
Archer?

I'm sure Sheff Wed fans would have said the same before their trip to Peterborough tonight. Hopefully Boro aren't as complacent as the Owls.

The main thing worrying me is all the pundits and bookies are saying we will be promoted. I don’t like the almost unanimous backing.

My head tells me if we play like we have all season we have more than enough to win all three games in the playoffs.

I havent heard any pundit pick us

Seeing what happened to sheff wed last night is a good reminder about the importance of making sure the game is still alive for the second match.

Although we have defensive weaknesses, I’m hoping we can control the match again even if we don’t manage to get lots of goals ourselves.

The bookies fancy us but the pundits are going for Luton or Coventry. So it will be Sunderland obviously.

I think the whole thing is wide open. I wanted the home leg first because of what happened to Sheff Wed. It can easily happen.

For the Mackems its weird - both them and Luton are better away from home.

I would be super happy with a draw tomorrow.

Important not to have our (not uncommon) slow, semi comatose start. If we sit back and try to control the game from our own half we could be in a lot of trouble.

Need a positive start, stop them getting on top early on.

Tomorrow will be tough and it would clearly be preferrable to have Forss and Ramsey available as they offer so much from the wide attacking areas. As they're not the lads just have to get on with it. Boro have to control possessoin and match Coventry's intensity. Do that and I think Boro will win.

Hopefully Howson is back which means Hackney can play further forward and Mowatt in the midfield.

All i wish for is
1. We fight for every 1st and 2nd ball. Dont sit and admire
2. Dont mess about in defence if in doubt boot it. Yes i especially mean you tommy, zack and paddy
3. If we do concede. Park the bus for 10 mins. Do not do a west brom or huddersfield.
4. Do not get sent off and put the team under pressure.

Do all these and play our best i think we will get a result we want.

We could easily win by 3, by the same token we could lose by 3, the former is more likely than the latter in my opinion but I can't see us sitting in and looking for a draw, it's just not the new boro way.

Thing is, even if we went into the home leg 3 down we would be in no way out of the tie.

You want us to completely throw away the way we've played since Carrick took over when we've played brilliantly and been in amazing form and start booting it out from the back? That absolutely definitely will not happen, which is a very good thing.

Spot on, it is conceivable that the way we play might see us undone in a cup competition, if it happens it happens.

We will pick ourselves up next season and get 90+ points.

My view is that we are going up this season but anything can happen.

No just to not take risks. Every boro fan i know is concerned about our dedending. Too much to lose. Play the pretty stuff in their half. We play carrickball better at the riverside where were unbeaten in a long while. Lets remember our away resilrs have faltered playing the pretty stuff away from home

I think you've got to remember the three away games we've lost recently, two were after we'd already qualified for the play offs, one was against Huddersfield who have been in superb form under Warnock. I don't think it's been down to playing pretty stuff!

On Monday it looked as though Jones was told to take it easy - first half he was very, very poor. Can only recall him trying to outpace their LB on a couple of occasions, mixed success. Looked like a quick player coming back from a hamstring injury and is a bit hesitant to go full pelt.

I hope it's all a bit of Carrick mind games - Coventry now don't pay him any special attention and he rips them apart. 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

If Jones plays - assume he will - he looks much better with Dijksteel behind. And with Coventry favouring the long ball into the channels for Gyokeres to chase, Dijksteels pace could be invaluable.
Surprised how poor Jones was after his performance in the previous game.

I've said it before and I'll say it again.

If we perform to our capability we have enough to win this. If we don't, we don't deserve to win.

I have faith in Carrick and the lads. UTB

Their city is treating tomorrow's game like a cup final , and it is .
They have bars and clubs opening at 8am and big screens in lots of them , they will have 30,000 ***ed up fans cheering them on , we know it's like a 1-0 goal lead , we have 2,000 trying their best .
To the ones going
Sing load and proud whatever happens , you can influence the game , and whatever the result tomorrow, it will be half time and back to our place . UTB
We shall over come .
