Who wants Man City to win the CL Saturday?

It's no different. It's just scale. We tried to catch up to the top by out spending others. City do that now. They might spend £100m on a player and pay them £300k but so do all the teams they are competing with. All the money from the TV deals and champions league lets them do that.

I don't disagree that the amount of money in football is terrible and it's not a fair competition but I do disagree that Man City are a special case and them winning is any worse than Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea, Madrid or Inter.
Making it worse is the fact they are state owned. It's expressly forbidden. You can't do it. Everyone knows they are owned by Abu Dhabi. Wrong on every level, but FIFA have allowed it to happen ($$$$$).

They then cook the books. Inflate sponsorships/income. Creatively manage transfers. And then get walloped with 115 cases of scullduggery.

The TV money and CL money allow them to compete at that level, blitzing what normal clubs bring in. But then the petro dollar chucked in on top of this.......just pushes them into an untouchable bracket. And before we know it the EPL has become the SPL with the only difference being the runner up changes every so often. How long before City are clean sweeping every domestic trophy, winning the treble on a frequent basis.🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

Meanwhile clubs are struggling financially and going bump just trying to keep up and exist.

It's not all City's fault, and they are most definitely not the only ones in this exclusive club. But it's been allowed, has massively skewed the competitiveness of our domestic game and created an unbreachable financial gulf.

Quicker they all f*ck off to their European/ World Super Duper League the better👍

I'll be rooting for City tonight, not for the plastic fans or the owners but for a special team and manager who play brilliant football and the old school City fans who went through hell when United did the treble and City were in the 3rd division but they stuck by their club, one of them my mate (RIP) would be absolutely loving this era for his club.
Plus they're not Chelsea!

Any argument that Man City are only doing what Man United, Liverpool or Arsenal have done is flawed in my opinion.

Man City didn’t become a big club with resources because of their steady progression over a period of years. They were bought by a millionaire business man from Thailand, who was later convicted of fraud. That period saw them suddenly buy players and pay salaries they wouldn’t have been capable of.

They have since been bought by a country who have pumped billions into the club using some dodgy practices. There is no way they could have signed the players they have without those questionable financial deals. They spent money on everything Guardiola wanted even before he took over as coach. No other club could have done that. They didn’t earn that right, it was gifted to them by the wealth fund of a Middle Eastern country. Sports washing at it very peak.

I honestly think that if they were serverly punished with say relegation for these 115 offences they would lobby government behind the scenes and get it reversed thats the sort of sinster influence these nations have.

Without a doubt. They will be doing the exact same with the Premier League and FA too. Those two organisations will not want to lose face either.

I fully expect Man City to get away with a fine.

It doesn’t matter how they got there, they are all doing the same thing and killed competitive football.

My father in law (RIP) was a long suffering City fan, ST holder at Maine Rd, proper "bitter blue". So, if he's watching and loving it I'm pleased for him and all he City supporters like him. Lots of genuine fans out there.......from Manchester. And Stockport, obviously........😁

Not me. Sick of them winning everything, I actually find them such a boring club at the minute. I know they play ‘good’ football but the total domination isn’t exciting for me.

So come on Inter, love an underdog and always had a liking for them since the days of Ronaldo and Adriano played for them.

I understand the sentiment but at least the likes of Man United built a fan base, huge stadium and genuine commercial deals to enable them to outspend everyone else.

Arsenal built a big stadium to compete with Man United then along comes Chelsea and their Russian billions. Man City and their nation state were along not long afterwards.

The good thing for me is a lot is down to brilliance of pep once he goes we could have a situation similar to chelsea now where they are spending without direction or sacking managers frequently

Unitard’s fan base is not in Manchester. The vast majority are glory supporters who should be supporting their local club.

Welll said it’s this pathetic argument from the non boro fan boo boys on here that seem to use any snd every post to turn on the club.

Of course it’s different and if you don’t see that then we can’t help you.
I'm not a non Boro fan boo boy. I support Boro and only Boro. I think it's all the closet Utd and Liverpool fans that think winning things and being the richest in the past is the "right way". The big clubs should be allowed to win everything every year because that's what people want to see sort of mentality.

The money in football is obscene and unfair but city are no better or worse than the others. So what if the money comes from oil? Why is that better than the other billionaires? You think they are billionaires through kindness or because they've ruthlessly exploited another resource (probably people).

And yes, whether Gibson is a Boro fan or not is irrelevant. The fact is we tried to achieve success by spending more than others. I will fully support any argument for leveling the playing field but only if it's truly level and none of this revenue linked bull**** which is designed to keep the rich rich.

Those other big clubs have had decades of out spending the rest which put them in a position where they have a massive advantage. Man City had to spend more than the established teams to catch up to them. If we suddenly came into money and wanted to catch up to the top teams we couldn't do it by spending the same amount, we have to spend more. If you were in a race and you were last then you can't catch the front without going faster than them. Since they got to a point where they were competing they aren't spending as much.
Why look at 10 years and not 5, or 1 or 20 or 100?

Why are you only using Liverpool and not all the other mega rich clubs that they are competing with like Chelsea, Man Utd, Barcelona, Real Madrid, PSG, Bayern etc.

There's no real difference between a billionaire and an oil state. They all have more money than they know how to spend so have "invested" in something fun. They have no connection to football, no connection to the club they've bought and no connection to the fans.

They are playing a team from the same cabal. Inter are owned by a Chinese billionaire. They are no different.
You can go back all the way to 2009, when the charges started.

It isn’t just that they’ve spent more money, it’s their flagrant cheating. Setting up other businesses to pay wages to players that were sometimes higher than what Man City were officially paying them on their books. Man City’s defence isn’t that this didn’t happen, it’s that the charges are time barred.

I’m curious, you’ve already said you have no problem with their flagrant cheating as you don’t believe in FFP. So what was your view of Derby County’s recent troubles?

Presumably you thought they did nothing wrong as you don’t believe in FFP and shouldn’t have been punished?

They are only cheating because of the rules setup to stop them competing with other big clubs. If the rules were fair and there was a certain amount everyone could spend our even if it was unlimited then it would be more fair but the system as it is was designed to prevent the big clubs losing their place at the top.

FFP in the championship is an even bigger joke because you can cheat as much as you want as long as you do it successfully and get promoted. Yes, I agree that Derby cheated but I don't think the rules are fair and those stupid rules created the necessity to cheat.

It is a bit different in the championship though because there is a need to prevent teams going bust and the numbers are much smaller so cheating is more beneficial. The billions at the top of the PL are ridiculous but it's clubs all spending billions. They are the same. They are all clubs with squads full of £100m players on £300k per week competing against each other.

In summary, FFP is a load of b***ks.
