If you don't live on Teesside, who is your local team and do you go and watch them?

At least the new new badge is better than the old new badge. I do miss the fake Boro red with white chestband though.
No arguments from me on that hideous yellow and red thing! I honestly thought they had the best, most authentic MLS "brand" going though with the original badge and the red shirt, white band.

For me it's North Carolina FC, who are so utterly woeful that they were actually voluntarily relegated to USL League One recently (they referred to it as a "strategic move"), and still finished bottom of that league the following season.

When I first moved here I was intending to go and watch them regularly, but instead I've got much more into baseball, and considering I can follow all of Boro's matches perfectly easily, I reckon there's no need for me to go out of my way to watch and support another underachieving football team ;)

Liverpool are my local team (and don't I know it, with all my neighbour's houses covered in flags and banners for the last couple of weeks). Haven't been to Anfield for about 20 years, when Boro lost 1-0 in possibly the worst 90 minutes of football in history.

Real Jaén is the closest - the other side of the city I live in - but I've been going to Atletico Mancha Real with a workmate. Its only 20km away.

Honestly it's something to do on Sunday mornings rather than a passion like Boro. I don't even take much interest in the scores when they are away from home.

They had the best season in their history this year. After getting promoted to this level for the first time they finished mid table and had an amazing run in the Copa del Rey - beating la Liga side Granada on the way.

Sutton Utd. Only been once since moving here, but hopefully get along to a few more next season. Also been to quite a few Bromley, Dulwich Hamlets and Wimbledon games over the years.

I’m now Mansfield as a league team and probably Hucknall is my largest non league team, also got Arnold up the road who we got Chris Freestone and Ben Hutchinson from

Can see the attraction!
They'd put a load of pub tables and benches on the terrace behind the goal last time I went. Need to be careful not to let the wayward shooting spill your pint, but given recent attendances it could qualify as an all seater stadium next season.

Lived all over and have variously followed Canterbury, Port Vale and Cheltenham whenever Boro haven't been within easy travelling distance. Seeing Cheltenham getting promoted to the football league back in 99 was a highlight.

I don't really count them. I realise it's probably not but I can see West Ham's ground directly from Stratford station whilst I can't from Leyton. I would think both Spurs and West Ham are about 7-8 miles from me and Orient 6.

I did my penance in Leyton and actually lived in the flats at the ground for 6 months.

I'm moving in the next few months and I would think my new closest will end up being Brentford.

This got me thinking of all the "closest" teams I've lived near in my life. A mixed bag: Hartlepools, Barcelona, Crawley Town, Brighton and Hove Albion, QPR, Fulham, and now Brentford. Only three of these: Barca, Crawley and as I mentioned old Brentford, did I go to any matches. I did like Crawley. They were none league when I lived there but the Broadfield seemed pretty fancy

Gillingham, I’ve been once in 22 years. Been to Charlton a number of times, the son of someone we know is in the first team squad. Went to their game against Sunderland earlier this season, 0-0 draw.

When I lived in Whitby I went to watch Town if I couldn’t get to Boro away.

Mine would be Boro, Preston North End, Forest, Carlisle United, Al Jazira or Al Wadha, Carlisle again. Non-league would currently be UniSun Athletic, I'm the chairman so the registered address is my house :D
