How did the local youths get in?
What breed of terriers?Cheers.
I`ve just been on the garden, having spent hours posting about Trees and Terriers!
Im going to get a cup of T
I'm not being judge and jury. It is a fact that Liverpool fans without tickets got into the ground. That is not up for debate. My point is that doing so is indefensible and selfish. It's always going to negatively impact the genuine fans. No doubt the authorities were in instances far too heavy handed, but certain degree of accountability isn't a bad thing.Im "defending" nobody.
Your opening mantra "always the victims" says it all.
Being Judge and Jury before we know the facts is not our prerogative.
I`l leave it at that.
Let in by their mates working the turnstiles, while ticket-holding Liverpool fans were dragged back:How did the local youths get in?
Its nothing against you personally. You have a perfect right to an opinion. Its unfair for any of us to pre-judge events - as most of the media is full of wild accusations - but the idea that Liverpool supporters are playing at "always the victims" is somewhat disingenuous.I'm not being judge and jury. Very valid point. Perhaps my original post lacked a bit of tactIts nothing against you personally. You have a perfect right to an opinion. It took 27 years for the Hillsbrough Disaster Inquest to come to the conclusion that 96 Liverpool fans were "unlawfully killed" - 33 years ago - for going to a football match. I suspect that the death of the 96 hits a raw nerve, when Liverpool supporters are told they always "play the victim"?
Lets enjoy seeing Trees get beat this afternoon.
After the EURO Final I read an article where a professor explained Liverpool and Man United fans have been known to get into stadiums without tickets for years. He mentioned being at Moscow in 08 for research and talked with quite a few ticketless Man United fans inside. The authorities - UEFA and the French including the coppers - would have been planning this since Paris was named CL final 2022. As English teams have regularly reached the final, it would have been common sense to at least have a contingency plan in place for 40-50-60 thousand ticketless fans descending on Paris. English fans have done this regularly since the 70s. So too many fans, not enough tickets = dodgy tickets to be produced en-masse. So how to stop this. It can't be stopped. But how to manage this? Surely a two ring security cordon was blindingly obvious. First one, all the dodgy tickets were stopped. Next one fans get into the stadium. . An alternative more cynical view would be the French expected the Liverpool fans to kick off so the Police have a field day with their battons, CS and pepper spray.......however the vast majority of the Liverpool fans being impeccably behaved and the arrival of local youths kicking off kind of put a damper on things. Although there was a knobhead element of the Liverpool support, the organisation must be the main instigator in what happened.
This tactic was used, but became swamped and had to be abandoned due to safety concerns. The absence of an outer security cordon to check tickets before getting to the entrances was one
Prior to the game I read a tale of how some Liverpool fans had had their flight cancelled. Eventually they got a flight to Jersey, then by small RIB boat to St Malo, then train to Rennes and then another to Paris. I thought what a fantastic story until I read the last line.......they didn't have any tickets to the game. WTF.I know.
I just wouldn’t do it.
Waste of time, money and energy if you don’t get to see the game.
But that’s just me.
They had berets, stripey tops and a string of onions around their necks, so..........If it was French youths trying to get in - who’s to say they weren’t Liverpool fans? You have to remember the fan base for Liverpool is colossal… you can’t really think of even the majority being scousers attending these events
